Drowned teenager’s body found in Zinkwazi

The body was found about one kilometer north from where he was swept out to sea.

The body of the 14-year-old boy who was swept out to sea last week was found in Black Rock, Zinkwazi this afternoon.

After an extensive five-day search using a beach patrol helicopter and 4x4s, KwaDukuza lifeguards spotted the body of the boy at mid-break.

KwaDukuza lifeguard spokesperson Bongani Xulu said the lifeguards swam out, recovered the body and brought it back to the beach.

“The last five days have been tough for all of us. Now, the family and everyone involved in the search at least have closure,” said Xulu.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s spokesperson Paul Herbst said their thoughts are with the family during this time.
