ANC bodyguard dies in N2 accident – Ballito

Tragedy strikes on the morning of the political party's 107th birthday celebration.

A man working as an ANC bodyguard died while another was moderately injured in an accident on the N2, close to Ballito this morning.

The tragedy takes place on the same day as the ANC’s 107th birthday bash and the party’s election manifesto launch at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

It’s has yet to be confirmed as to whether the men, both in their thirties, were heading to the celebrations or who they work for.

It is believed the driver of the bakkie lost control, rolling multiple times before landing on the oncoming lane, said paramedics.

“The driver was declared dead on scene while the passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for further care,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
