TAKE NOTE: ANCYL block R102 with burning tyres – Etete

SAPS are currently clearing the road, however motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

More than 100 members of the ANC Youth League in Nkobongo, Shayamoya and Etete are currently protesting on the R102 in Etete, blocking the road with broken bottles and burning tyres.

They are reportedly complaining about the lack of employment opportunities at a factory near Shakaskraal.

“There are more than 40 people employed, none of which are local,” said Shayamoya ANCYL chairperson Collen Mdletshe.

The protesters said they will not stop until they have been addressed by the local leadership and management of the factory.

Police are monitoring the situation and they are currently clearing the road.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
