Two pedestrians killed in separate R102 accidents

Deadly start to the week on North Coast roads.

Two men lost their lives in two separate accidents that occurred on the R102 between Compensation and Umhlali this week.

On Monday a pedestrian was knocked while crossing the R102 near Compensation.

He succumbed to his injuries before paramedics arrived on scene.

On Tuesday morning, a pedestrian crossing the R102 by Dolphin Coast Waste Management was hit by a vehicle travelling towards Umhlali.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst, the man reportedly appeared from the bushes, which lie very close to the road, and was hit by the car.

The severe impact left him with critical injuries.

“Paramedics tried to resuscitate him but after a considerable amount of time he was declared dead.”
