Eskom declares stage 3 loadshedding

Stage 3 calls for 3000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.

Eskom will implement Stage 3 rotational loadshedding nationally from 8am today and is likely to continue until 11pm.

The power utility said that despite the generating units returning to service as planned, the emergency reserves (diesel and water) were still very low.

Ballito (the Southern Grid: all KDM areas south of Groutville up to just about the Isenembe turnoff on the R102) will be affected from 8am till 10.30am and from 4pm till 6.30pm.

The Stanger Northern Grid (north of Groutville, up to Zamani and Kearsney and up to Nonoti River) will be off from 9am till 10.30am.

“We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.

“Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.”
