Police on the hunt for fatal hit and run driver – Tinley Manor
The boy suffered head injuries and died in hospital later that evening.

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident near Tinley Manor beach this weekend in which a 13-year-old boy was killed.
The car is suspected to have been a black VW Golf with a damaged windscreen on the driver’s side. The boy suffered head injuries and died in hospital later that evening.
A motorist, who asked to remain anonymous, was travelling ahead of the Golf at the time of the accident.
“Six people were walking down the opposite side of the road asking for a lift. In the rear view mirror I could see the car swerve out and head straight for the group of people before swerving back into his lane and driving on,” said the motorist.

She said she sped up to turn off onto the highway to get out of harm’s way as the VW Golf continued to drive recklessly along the link road between the N2 and R102 towards Palm Lakes.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst, paramedics placed the boy on a manual ventilator as he was in a serious condition.
“He suffered an isolated head injury and broke a few bones,” said Herbst.
Despite being taken to hospital, his injuries ultimately proved fatal.
“A case of negligent and reckless driving has been opened and police are investigating,” said Umhlali SAPS captain Vinny Pillay.
