Eskom moves to Stage 1, and Stage 2 loadshedding on Friday

The first break from stage 4 loadshedding in almost a week will be welcomed by all South Africans.

At 11pm tonight Eskom will shift from stage 4 rotational loadshedding to Stage 1 until 9am on Friday morning.

The national power utility announced tonight that it will then implement Stage 2 loadshedding on Friday, 22 March from 9am to 11pm.

Shortage of capacity is once again cited as the reason for loadshedding.

“Loadshedding is a highly controlled process, implemented to protect the system and to prevent a total collapse of the system or a national blackout.

“During Stage 4 loadshedding, approximately 80% of the country’s demand is still being met.

“Remember to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.”
