No loadshedding planned this week

The risk of loadshedding remains, as the system continues to be vulnerable.

After a day of reprieve from loadshedding, Eskom expect a bright week ahead thanks to improved conditions.

“The improvement in plant performance with the return of five units since Friday morning has positively shifted system performance, creating temporary relief from loadshedding today.”

Eskom further stated that they have “achieved healthy diesel and water reserves”, however the are still recovering from the damage caused by the recent cyclone in Mozambique.

“Imports from Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa has increased to 850MW, with the restoration of feed from one of the two lines.

“The recent cyclone has caused significant damage to the second transmission line, which will take several months to restore.”

We are not out of the woods yet though as the risk of loadshedding remains, although Eskom promised to only switch off the lights when absolutely necessary.
