Marketing mastery for fledgling entrepreneurs

"People love a good story and it's important to tell yours."

Marketing was the topic under discussion for the recently held Entrepreneurs Workshop that was held at Hirsch’s Training Centre.

The Workshops, that are a Hirsch’s community initiative, are held on a monthly basis for people who are starting up their own companies or who have been operating for a while and need a boost in certain aspects of their business.

Speakers included the Brand Manager of Hirsch’s, Luci Hirsch, Marketing Works Lauren Abdo and Glenda Thompson, CEO of Get u Noticed and Hirsch’s PR consultant.

Luci Hirsch spoke about the background to Hirsch’s radio campaign. She said that repetition was important when it came to branding and explained that building a relationship with your customer will build your brand.

Lauren Abdo delved into the different aspects of marketing and explained the importance of using social media and working out which platform was the most suitable for one’s specific business – whether it be Linked in, Facebook or Instagram.

Glenda Thompson said that one sure way of catching the public’s attention and “getting noticed” was to tell a story.

“People love a good story and it’s important to tell yours.”

She explained the different angles of getting publicity – including networking, launching a product, celebrating the businesses birthday, or being nominated for an award.

Workshops to date have included finance, sales and marketing. The June Workshop which will be held on 7 June will look deeper into marketing and ask the question “are you talking to the right market?” If you would like to attend, contact lindsays@hirschs.co.za
