UPDATE: Tributes pour in for Ballito’s Renalda Hoffman
The memorial service will take place on Saturday, 6 June.
The Ballito community were left in shock following the untimely death of former Miss Ballito, Renalda Hoffman, who was fatally injured in a car accident on Saturday morning.
According to paramedics Renalda was travelling alone along Gazelle Road, Ballito when she lost control of her Volkswagen UP which veered off the road, clipped the pavement and landed on a palisade fencing.
“She suffered major injuries, and there was nothing paramedics could do for her as she was declared deceased shortly after their arrival,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesman Dylan Meyrick.
Renalda, a Ballito resident who recently celebrated her 30th birthday, was crowned Miss Ballito in 2012, Miss Valentine 2014 and walked away with the coveted Miss KZN crown in 2014.
She held a business degree and was the marketing and brand manager of Overflow Holdings. Renalda was known for her larger-than-life personality and her commitment to social work.
Tributes poured in for the former beauty queen after news of her fatal accident made its rounds on social media.
The Miss Ballito pageant wrote on their Facebook page: “Renalda Hoffman you were one of a kind, such a beautiful, energetic, bubbly, positive, passionate and loving soul. We will treasure the amazing memories, celebrate your life and try to live our lives with a little more passion and purpose to live up to your legacy.”
Renalda worked for the Ilembe Chamber during its formative years and her energy, commitment and unadulterated passion contributed hugely to the membership foundation,” said CEO of Ilembe Chamber, Cobus Oelofse.
In a statement to the Courier, Karen Landman, a close friend of Renalda’s said: “She always gave 110% whenever she did anything, from helping out at charity events to modelling garments on the ramp, to focusing on work. She loved her family and friends and always saw the best in everything.. she was always bubbly and positive and uplifted so many people.
We were all so proud of her, although she won these titles, we always said that she didn’t need a sash or crown to be a queen, she was the Queen of our hearts.”
Renalda is survived by her parents and younger sister.
The memorial service of Renalda will take place on Saturday, 8 June, at 10am at Church Alive in Ballito, 13 Warren Heights Street.
