Sporting the sexiest beard on the North Coast

After sorting through countless entries, the king of all bearded men was crowned and it was non-other than the ginger ninja, Johan Dorfling.

In honour of Father’s Day and all things manly, we called for some showing off of your facial hair and the result was, well, hairy!

After sorting through countless entries, the king of all bearded men was crowned and it was non-other than the ginger ninja, Johan Dorfling.

The Virgin Active personal trainer’s photo of him racing down a road on his bicycle, flaming beard blowing in the wind, was the epiphany of manliness.

Dofling said he started growing his beard for Movember and did not trim it for a whole year.

“You have to grow your beard for a year – that’s what separates the men from the boys,” chuckled the 38-year-old.

The fitness fanatic, who has braved Ironman races and the Comrades Marathon, said sporting such a big beard does come with its challenges.

“It got to a point where I had to drink my cappuccino from a takeaway cup as the mug was just too messy!”

His beard grooming routine was also quite thorough.

“I wash my beard with shampoo and conditioner and have a special beard cream and a beard wax to keep it soft and controlled. It also keeps the itch away. I have tried to tie it up or plait it, but it did not work for me.”

While most women would probably struggle with the long, hairy addition, Dorfling said his girlfriend thought it was super sexy.

He wins a R500 gift voucher for RocoMamas and a Gun Wax hamper valued at R650.

Vishal Sukkhu came second and wins a R300 RocoMamas gift voucher and a free haircut and shave from the Moustache Barber Shop in Ballito.

Vishal Sukkhu’s fantastical beard won second place.

Third place went to Clive Wetherill who wins a R200 RocoMamas gift voucher and a Gun Wax shaving soap and beard balm.

Clive Wetherill made the third place with his friendly beard.
