Durban to host renowned classic car show

Who has the fanciest classic of them all?

Turn back the hands of time and delve into the old world of elegance at the Concours d’ Elégance Durban.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Durban Country Club, the country’s automobile heritage and the art of mechanical engineering will be celebrated this weekend, July 27 and 28.

Automobiles will be judged for their historical accuracy, their mechanical merit and their style.

Steeped in tradition as one of the most distinguished classic car showcases in the world, Concours d’ Elégance Durban will see the country’s elite in elegant collector’s cars compete for the title – Best of Show.

Another great coup this year is the inclusion of the vintage and classic motorcycle class.

Event organiser John Aritho said they welcomed classic car owners to chronicle their timeless classics, vintage or veteran masterpieces or motorcycles in the prestigious competition of chic sophistication.

The term ‘Concours d’Elegance’ pronounced kon-koor del-i-gahns literally means ‘Competition of Elegance’.

“We have been impressed with the overwhelming response and pleased that we will soon reach capacity in the car and motorcycle divisions.

“We look forward to providing our guests with a world class event, where they can enjoy this vintage experience of fine wheels and old-fashioned flair.

“Concours d’ Elégance Durban sets the tone for automotive excellence, while bringing in touches of French shabby chic flair in fashion, food and bubbly, promising to be a fun-filled family weekend,” said Aritho.

Automobiles will be judged for their historical accuracy, their mechanical merit and their style.
