If you have watched Maskandi musicians David Jenkins, also known as Qadasi, and Maqhinga playing live at The Market, you will probably have noticed their most loyal fan sitting up front and centre – four-year-old Cameron Wolhuter.
The little boy sits in rapture at Qadasi’s performances at Ballito’s Lifestyle Centre, absolutely captivated by the music.
He has been attending the shows since he was really little, said mom Carly Wolhuter.

“He is absolutely obsessed with them. He wants to do everything like David.”
Cameron has recently started taking his guitar with him.
“From the beginning he would come up to us while we performed and push the chair up as close as possible,” said Jenkins.
“He obviously feels a connection with the music. It is always wonderful having him there. He is such a great little guy.”

Jenkins’s mother, Sue, has been designing and making patch pants for Jenkins and Maqhinga for years, and recently had the idea to make little Cameron a pair of his own. Jenkins presented Cameron with the patch pants on Saturday.
“He could not wait to get home to put the pants on,” said Wolhuter.
“They have a pride of place in his cupboard; he is besotted with him.”
