Pug Olympics takes off at Crawford North Coast

Events included an obstacle course, 20m sprint and owner and dog spoon and potato race, as well as a best dressed contest.

Pug lovers united this weekend for the annual Pug Olympics, held at Crawford North Coast on Saturday.

Events included an obstacle course, 20m sprint and owner and dog spoon and potato race, as well as a best dressed contest.

The event was held by Pug Rescue South Africa, a centre that rescues, rehabilitates, re-homes and offers sanctuary to pugs in South Africa.

Participants line up for the 20m sprint.

“I am very happy with how the day went,” said chairman and director Malcolm Gaw.

“It is all about raising awareness, having fun, and spending time with like-minded people.”

Malcolm and Cheryl Gaw also started the Thanda Inja Project, which, among other things, offers veterinary welfare services through a mobile clinic in Daveyton, Gauteng.

Family fun: Martin, Natalie, Rianna and Tyanna Sigamoney with Pugla.
Robert Shapiro enjoys a day out with his hounds.

Lynn Foster with Phoebe, who came third in the spoon and potato race.

Committed Pug fans Vera Taylor and Mary Rawsthorn brought Pebbles out for the action.
