Checkers’ Cotwal claims top spot for super service

"With more than 147 000 employees across 15 African countries, the group's annual super service awards honor those teams of employees who have delivered outstanding customer service," said divisional public relations officer, Nikita Morgan.

Checkers’ Riaz Cotwal was crowned the best divisional manager in the country at the recently held Shoprite Group’s 2019 Super Service Awards in Cape Town. Cotwal oversees a number of Checkers stores throughout KZN, including the North Coast and the Ballito area.

“With more than 147 000 employees across 15 African countries, the group’s annual super service awards honor those teams of employees who have delivered outstanding customer service,” said divisional public relations officer, Nikita Morgan.

Cotwal, aged 44, began his career with the Shoprite Group in 1995 when he was employed as a trainee manager in Ladysmith.

With his level of dedication and tenacity, Cotwal climbed the corporate ladder, first to the position of sales manager and then to branch manager – a position he held for seven years.

From there, Cotwal continued from regional manager to trainee deputy divisional manager and now, maintains his position as the full-time divisional manager.

“Wonderful things can be achieved through teamwork and collaboration. Great things in business are never done by one person, but rather by a team who work together towards a common vision,” Cotwal said.
