The community of Seatides have rallied to feed the people of Thuthukani informal settlement at Genazzano.

A soup kitchen was set up last year by resident Logie Ponen and his wife, Annette, who later realised the need was far greater than they had thought.

According to Ponen, they were able to feed about 80 to 120 children every Friday.

“Little did we realise that we were being prepared to serve this whole community at such a time as this,” he said.

With the global pandemic wreaking havoc on low-income families, many have been left without an income.

“We, together with the community, want to express our thanks to all the wonderful people who have provided much-needed food and blankets from the time the Covid-19 lockdown started,” said

Logie, adding that a huge round of applause was due to the ladies of Zimbali for their daily support.
