No sign of KDM licencing offices opening, municipality appeals for calm
Ealier this month, shortly before the centre was to reopen, an employee tested positive for Covid-19.
While today marks two weeks since an employee tested positive for coronavirus, the KwaDukuza Motor Licensing and Learners/Driver Testing centre and Salt Rock licensing office remain closed as they await the go-ahead to reopen.
KwaDukuza municipal spokesperson Sipho Mkhize asked that motorists remain calm while they wait the approval from the Transport Department (DoT).
Plans to reopen the centre after lockdown were postponed while staff the employee had come into contact with went into isolation for two weeks.

If the all-clear to reopen is given tomorrow, it could see the centre return to service come Monday.
“We appeal for calm during this period and reiterate that there is no reason for panic. There is a standing 90-day grace period which comes to an end in August,” he said.
“This time allows for the system to accept submissions that would have been affected until August, when we are all expected to be running smoothly.”
Decontamination of the Motor Licensing and Learners/Driver Testing centre started on June 20.
“Those who able are urged to use other licensing offices/registering authorities and post offices.”
The closest post offices that do motor vehicle licencing are in Durban. See the list here.
