Run for man’s best friend with the Durban and Coast SPCA
Relying mostly on donations, the Durban and Coast SPCA will be hosting its annual trail run - now turned into a virtual run - from September 7 to 20.
Lockdown has upended the running of many things since first being implemented, but charities still need your support.
The Durban and Coast SPCA, which is inviting you to support them at two races, is no exception.
Relying mostly on donations, the Durban and Coast SPCA will be hosting its annual trail run – now turned into a virtual run – from September 7 to 20.
Walkers, joggers and runners are encouraged to support from the comfort of their own ‘hood’.
Previously, participants enjoyed the scenic route alongside the Umgeni River however, this year’s trail run marks the organisation’s first ever virtual run.
“Whether you are a serious runner or just looking for a fun morning out with the family, get your shoes laced and hit the road in support of the orphaned animals in our care,” said Durban and Coast SPCA marketing manager, Tanya Fleischer.
Another run aimed at supporting Durban charities is the Heritage Day Virtual Run, organised by FNB as part of its Run Your City Series run.
The Durban and Coast SPCA is one of these charities and Fleischer adds that the run is always a fun one.
“It has also helped us raise much-needed funds over the years. It is a fabulous series which will include a virtual run on Heritage Day,” she said.
An easy 5km, 10km or for the more serious people out there, a 15km run, walk or jog will be available for the Durban and Coast SPCA’s annual trail run.
Some amazing prizes are also up-for-grabs but these will only go to those who qualify and provide proof of finishing times.
Entry costs are R100 (5km), R150 (10km) and R200 (15km). Entries are open until September 6 – register at: https://wardevents.co.za/product/spca-virtual-run-2020/.
To join in on the Run Your City Series race on September 24, secure your spot at R195 before entries close on September 22.
