ActionSA will be contesting for the KwaDukuza municipal council in the coming local elections.

Party president Herman Mashaba visited KwaDukuza last week to make the announcement.

He spoke to a small group of the new political party’s followers in King Shaka Street in KwaDukuza CBD.

When Mashaba visited Ballito in April, he said the party would only be concentrating on the big metros.

However, last Thursday he said local representative Nel Sewraj, who joined the party as iLembe region executive, and the local leadership had convinced them of the need for ActionSA to contest in KwaDukuza.

“At this point, it is going to be only KwaDukuza and not the whole Ilembe district. It is not that we do not care about the other municipalities but we just do not have the capacity.”

Mashaba spent time inspecting the damage caused by looting in Shakaskraal and KwaDukuza town.

“It very painful because this is one of the provinces that has high unemployment and thousands of businesses were destroyed.

“It will take years to rebuild and recover from the damage caused.

“We are going to need to remain positive and this was another sign that we need to remove the ANC (African National Congress) from power as soon possible.”
