Car ploughs into 11 cyclists near Fraser’s, 1 killed
The group were traveling south towards Tongaat when the car collided with them.
At around 9am this morning, a car allegedly overtaking on a blind rise on the R102 near Fraser’s crashed into 11 cyclists, killing one.
The group were traveling south towards Tongaat when the car collided with them, allegedly after attempting to overtake multiple cars at once, said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
A young cyclist died after being trapped under the car, while 3 others were injured.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Tongaat chairperson, Nazir Sadack said the poor maintenance on the R102 often contributed to accidents.
“My concern on the R102 is that the verges are poorly maintained and could lead to more accidents.
“They overhang into the road and make it difficult for both cyclists and pedestrians,” said Sadack.
