Ntshawini ‘gogos’ honoured for Women’s Month
Dlamini-Ngema said they felt the gogos needed to be celebrated because so many remained the backbones of their families, despite their old age.
Ntshawini gogos hold a significant place in society and were honoured for this by their community last week.
Fifty seniors were treated to lunch and cake in celebration of Women’s Month.
The event was organised by Umvumbi Club led by resident Sizakele Dlamini-Ngema.
Dlamini-Ngema said they felt the gogos needed to be celebrated because so many remained the backbones of their families, despite their old age.
“Due to Covid -19 regulations, we could only host 50 and we know that there were many who were left out. I wish to thank all those who came to support us and gave the grandmothers words of support and encouragement,” she said.
She thanked The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund for giving the gogos gifts of walking sticks and blankets, and those who helped with the food for the day.
