Two weeks after 19-year-old Sabrina Paul of Ballito was brutally assaulted in a lower village carpark, no arrests have been made.

Umhlali Saps are understood to have gathered video footage of the assault on October 8 and are investigating a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but have not released any further information.

The assault left Sabrina knocked out cold, choking on blood and her tongue, before a passerby called paramedics.

She had a concussion, bleeding on the brain, a broken nose, lacerations on her face and inside her mouth and a missing front tooth.

Sabrina’s mother, Nadia, says she is healing, but the psychological toll of such a brutal assault might take longer.

“She has had her nose fixed and she is healing well physically. Still, this was such a traumatic experience and she has had a few panic attacks,” she said.

Sabrina posted a heartfelt thank you on Instagram to those who helped her, as well as a brief description of the incident, without going into much detail.

“What happened that evening is under investigation.

“I can’t give details at this point and all I can say is that I was horrifically assaulted and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” she wrote, in response to rumours that have been spread on social media.
