Umhlali police urge parents to come forward after unverified claims that Ballito mom was asked ‘how much’ for her child

Umhlali Saps have called on parents to come forward and open cases after a message warning parents of people asking to ‘buy their children’ began circulating on local WhatsApp groups.

The message – author unknown – claims that a mother was approached by an unknown man who asked her how much it would cost to buy the child from her at a local shopping centre

In the message, consisting of a series of screen shots, other parents replied, claiming they had had similar experiences.

The Salt Rock Neighbourhood Watch also issued a warning to parents, after they received similar reports from members.

None of these reports have been verified and Umhlali Saps communications officer, Captain Vinny Pillay said no cases had been reported to the police.

“The Saps would appreciate any information such as vehicle registration numbers, descriptions of vehicles, description of perpetrators, time, date and any other important information which could assist the Saps with tracing these people,” said Captain Pillay..

Those who have information pertaining to these, or similar incidents, have also been urged to contact the Saps.
