Stage 2 loadshedding to continue all week

Loadshedding will continue throughout the week, Eskom said today after being unable to replenish emergency reserves during the weekend.

Loadshedding will remain on stage 2, and continue until Saturday at 5am.

The state-owned utility said the power grid remained volatile and unpredictable, which may require higher stages of loadshedding.

Eskom said that on Saturday, ‘a major incident in Zambia’ affected the entire Southern African power pool.

Imported power from Cahora Bassa was reduced by 1 000MW, Eskom claimed while also noting that a generator at Tutuka power station had tripped and a further unit was forced to shut down.

There were also units which were not returned to service, with additional units tripping on Sunday at other power stations.

• Monday – 10am to 12.30pm & 6-8.30pm
• Tuesday – 4-6.30pm
• Wednesday – Midnight to 2.30am
• Thursday – Midnight to 2.30am
