Time to Dance Studios takes audience around the world with dance at Ashton
The production featured dancers from Ashton, Crawford International North Coast, Curro Mount Richmore and Umhlali Preparatory.
Lights flashed and more than 80 dancers dazzled the audience in 22 scenes of the Around The World ballet production at Ashton International College in Ballito on Saturday evening.

Opening the show, coordinator Michael Robert said: “Tonight we want to take you on a journey around the world. Lockdowns and travel restrictions have stopped us from experiencing the world around us. So tonight we’ll dance around the world.
“We would also like to highlight some issues facing the world we live in – how we treat our planet, mental health issues such as stress, anxiety and depression, and how dancing allows us to express inner tensions.”

Telling the story of the advent of Covid-19 right through to where we are today, the production by Time To Dance Studios highlighted scenes from cities around the world, which included India, Australia, England, America and Italy.
Dances included contemporary dance, ballet and hip-hop.

Umhlali Preparatory deputy principal, Sue Zorich, praised the performance.
“The colourful costumes, familiar music, impressive lighting and exquisite backdrop brought so much vibrancy to the evening. The pupils were so enjoyable to watch as it was easy to see how much they were involved in their routines,” she said.
Time To Dance studios is owned by Caley Thomas, a qualified Cecchetti ballet teacher.
Three of her pupils who featured in the show qualified for the Maybel Ryan Bursary – a great achievement and opportunity for Rebecca Sutherland, Daniella Diedrechsen and Gabriella Bezuidenhout to progress in their dance careers.
The production also featured the Perspective video, showcasing Lockdown, filmed and directed by local producer, Timothy Hay.
