Four dead in multiple vehicle collision near Zinkwazi

The family of 3 adults and a child were thought to be holidaymakers from Mpumalanga.

At around 2am this morning, a multiple vehicle collision on the N2 between Zinkwazi and Tugela took the lives of 4 people.
The collision involved four light motor vehicles and a truck.
It is alleged that one of the light motor vehicles lost control travelling southbound, crossing the median and colliding with the truck on the opposite side of the highway, said KZN Saps spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
All 4 passengers of the car involved died, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries.

“There were 3 adults and a child who was around 7 years old in the car. We don’t know their names, but the car had Mpumalanga identification, so it is suspected they were coming to the North Coast for holiday,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
Paramedics declared the family dead on arrival.
A further 2 motorists received moderate injuries.
The N2 northbound was closed for most of the day, but has since reopened.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at Newark Police Station.
