Suspected brake failure led to an elderly man crashing his vintage Volkswagen Karmann Ghia into a wall this afternoon.
The accident took place at the Long Island residential complex in Ballito.
The driver is understood to have injured his leg and sustained cuts to his face.

Essentially an early 60s VW Beetle, the Karmann Ghia is a sought after collectible today.
Depending on the model and condition, the price tag ranges between R100 000 and R500 000.
Over 500 000 of the iconic German-Italian cars were manufactured, with production starting in 1955 and ending in 1975.
