Two men rescued from tree using jetski in Shakaskraal

After the truck they were driving was washed away last night, the men were found clinging to a tree.

An unusual rescue took place in Shakaskraal last night, where 2 men stuck in a tree were saved with the help of a jetski.

After the truck they were driving was reportedly washed away, amid the height of floods at around 10.30pm, the men clung to the tree for safety.

Search and rescue teams, paramedics and KwaDukuza lifeguards all responded to the scene.

“Teams spotted the two in a tree and launched a jetski to affect a rescue. Well done to all involved,” said Medi Response KZN spokesperson, Paul Herbst.

On the R102, flooding severely impacted travel in multiple locations, with the Umhlali River bursting its banks near Shakaskraal.

The road remains closed.
