Dry food donations needed at SPCA Dog Box
With abandoned and stray pet numbers reaching an all-time high during the difficult past few years, the Durban and Coast SPCA has taken in more animals than ever before.
The SPCA Dog Box has a shiny new pet food donation station.
At the recently remodelled store, which has effectively doubled in size, one can now drop off dry pet food donations in the dedicated box.
Naturally, to feed all the animals comes at a huge cost. If you are able, donating a few packs of cat or dog food will help make a difference.
“We hope to attract more donations, particularly with regards to pet food. It is crucial to boost our capacity to take in more animals in need,” said Durban and Coast education officer, Krystal Pretorius.
Aside from the main Dog Box store, dry food can also be dropped off at a few other locations around the North Coast – at Lifestyle Spar, the Odyssey and Salt Rock Checkers, among others.
The Dog Box’s main attractions still remain in second-hand books, clothing, homeware and home media sections.
Here you will almost definitely find a hidden gem among the towers of donated goods.
The Dog Box accepts donations of good quality preloved items that are clean and not broken.
Many families rely on donated items for affordable, but functional items, so keep that in mind when donating.
Donations are accepted in-store, with home pick-ups available on Fridays. Call 031 579 6534 to book a slot.
Visit the store between 10am – 2pm on Mondays to Fridays, as well as from 9am – noon on Saturdays to see the new space for yourself.
