Tongaat cops take nosedive on collapsed R102 towards Ballito

It is unclear whether the officers were on duty at the time of the accident.

Two Tongaat police officers will be investigated for reckless and negligent driving after crashing their police van into a ditch caused by floodwater on the R102.

The two were rushed to hospital on Tuesday at around 5am following their nosedive between Tongaat and Ballito.

Provincial Saps spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, could not confirm whether the officers were en route to a crime scene when the accident took place.

This section of the R102 collapsed following the floods which ravaged the North Coast two weeks ago.
