Eskom puts country into week-long loadshedding crunch

The power utility says it is currently experiencing severe capacity constraints.

Eskom will start loadshedding under stage 2 from 5pm countrywide owing to severe generation capacity constraints.

The utility provider noted that stage 2 would run until Monday, May 9 at 5am.

Specifically, these constraints were caused by delays in returning generators to service and the breakdown of nine generators.

Ballito loadshedding times:

  • Wednesday: Midday to 2.30pm and 8pm to 10.30pm
  • Thursday: 6pm to 8.30pm
  • Friday: 2am to 4.30am
  • Saturday: 2am to 4.30am and 10am to 12.30pm
  • Sunday: 10am to 12.30pm and 6pm to 8.30pm

Stanger loadshedding times:

  • Wednesday: 4am to 6.30am and midday to 2.30pm
  • Thursday: 10am to 12.30pm and 6pm to 8.30pm
  • Friday: 6pm to 8.30pm
  • Saturday: 2am to 4.30am
  • Sunday: 2am to 4.30am and 10am to 12.30pm
