Stanger Manor CPF provides a helping hand to flood victims

The Stanger Manor community police forum has donated mattresses, blankets and food to flood victims in KwaDukuza.

More than 500 plates of biryani and 20 mattresses and blankets were given to severely affected residents in Gledhow, Monkey Town and Bangladesh on Sunday.

Some residents said their blankets and mattresses were still wet despite moving them outside every day to dry out.

They described receiving fresh blankets and mattresses as “manna from heaven”.

CPF member Theven Naidoo said the programme was launched to bring communities together.

“There is no barrier when our teams are on the ground. We reach out to all who are affected or need assistance. With CPF branches in all wards it makes it easier to reach hard-hit communities with the help of Saps.

“There is still much work to be done on the ground and we encourage all stakeholders to come on board,” said Naidoo.

He said now that they had identified the needs, they would partner with key role players to expand relief efforts.

“I was saddened to see how badly people have been affected, losing everything and having to start all over again. It is not an easy journey and this encourages my team to work harder to help make a difference,” he said.
