JUST IN: Delivery truck driver shot in apparent hijacking on N2 near Umdloti, separate accident causes traffic delays
The driver was shot multiple times in the arm and is currently being treated by paramedics on scene.
The driver of a delivery truck was shot on the N2 near the Umdloti offramp in an apparent attempted hijacking.
This was witnessed at around 4pm by paramedics of Medi Response KZN as they were transporting a patient injured in an earlier car accident.
“Paramedics on the way to hospital have just seen the driver of a company vehicle shot in what appears to be a hijacking,” said Medi Response KZN spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
The driver was shot multiple times in the arm and is currently being treated by paramedics on scene, he said.

Police are on the scene, but no further information is currently available.
Earlier, at about 3.45pm, the driver of a small vehicle was rear-ended by a truck on the N2 southbound, just past the Ballito exit.
“The driver of the truck escaped without serious injury,” said Herbst.
The driver was stabilised and was in the process of being transported when the attempted hijacking occurred.

“Traffic is severely affected and motorists can expect delays while emergency crews work on scene,” he said.
With the M4 and R102 still closed, people should rather delay travelling south if at all possible.
