Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society offers trauma counselling for flood victims
Trauma counselling services will be provided by professional social workers to any adult, child, disaster management volunteer or even an individual who has suffered trauma from witnessing the destruction.

The Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society urges those affected by the recent flooding to contact them for trauma counselling services.
The society says while families are busy reconstructing their lives after the many losses suffered, they may not consider attending to their mental health.
But the diverse effects of being incapable to cope with the aftermath of the floods can be detrimental to one’s well-being in the long term, the society says.
Traumatic stress reactions are mental and emotional episodes that people may experience following a national disaster.
Symptoms may begin immediately or weeks later. Some of the signs of trauma are displayed through feeling hopeless, extreme sadness, fear, uncertainty, sense of grief, panic and loss.
Community members as well as schools are encouraged to refer cases to the society should they identify individuals who require counselling services.
Should you feel you require such services, visit the organisation at 12-14 Tesco Drive, Potgieters Hill, or contact them at 032 9441514. Alternatively privately message the Tongaat Child Welfare Facebook page.
