Colourful fashion show sees creativity shine through at Grace Church Ballito

Since the launch of the programme in 2019, 97 women from different townships have been trained.

A colourful fashion show during the Owesifazane Onethemba skills mentorship programme’s sixth graduation ceremony at the Grace Church in Ballito last Wednesday, displayed top level creativity.

Eighteen women completed a beginners sewing course, combined with the Alpha course (exploring the basics of the Christian faith), while nine completed the advanced dressmaking and patternmaking course.

The Owesifazane Onethemba (woman of hope) skills transfer programme is the brainchild of creative sewing guru Colleen Blew.

“Women learn the art of dressmaking to make beautiful clothes for special occasions for themselves and others in their community. This puts food on their table and restores their dignity.

“They also receive spiritual guidance and become confident women of God full of hope,” said Blew.
