KwaDukuza political power couple killed in N2 car crash

The ACDP KZN chairperson and her husband, a KwaDukuza PR councillor were killed in an accident on the N2 between Nseleni and KwaMbonambi on Sunday.

African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) provincial chairperson Zibuyile Dladla and her husband Sikhumbuzo, a KwaDukuza PR councillor, died in a horrific accident on the N2 on Sunday.

According to Archbishop Eric Manqele, who represents the ACDP in the KZN Legislature, the accident occurred between Nseleni and KwaMbonambi while the couple was on their way home.

They were coming from a preparatory meeting for a Women of Destiny conference.

Manqele’s daughter Khayelihle, the party’s provincial general secretary, was also in the car and suffered injuries, but was later discharged from the Ngwelezana Hospital in Empangeni.

Manqele said Sikhumbuzo, who was driving, died at the scene, while Zibuyile passed away at Ngwelezane Hospital.

KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca has expressed shock and sadness over the Dladla’s deaths.

“This is a sad blow for the Dladla family, the council, and the KwaDukuza community.”

Nhaca said Cllr Sikhumbuzo Dladla was a level-headed leader who stood for truth and will be remembered as a gentle, God-fearing man committed to his task of serving the public.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to the Dladla family, friends and colleagues.”
