Lognath brothers set to go places after claiming top spot in iLembe Chamber of Commerce entrepreneur competition [Watch]

Their company has attracted the interest of big-name medical aid schemes which have partnered with their brand to offer members smart health devices.

Local entrepreneurs, the Lognath brothers, believe winning this year’s iLembe Chamber of Commerce’s entrepreneur competition will open many doors of opportunity for them going forward.

Nicolas (26) and Ricardo (28) are the proud owners of e-commerce healthcare company Omninela.

Although their business is a completely online venture, they have offices at Pinnacle Park in Ballito.

“Behind the website is a team running the business and our clients also need to see us in person when possible as it gives that personal touch,” said Nicolas.

They established the company while still engineering students at the Durban University of Technology (DUT).

After graduating, Ricardo worked as a junior mechanical engineer and Nicolas as a junior civil engineer to self-fund expansion of their Omninela venture.

“We strongly believe in embracing technology to assist people in living longer and healthier, and we help them achieve this by providing online access to shop for more 5 000 innovative health and beauty products. We want to grow further to become the leading online health portal in South Africa,” said Ricardo.

Their company has attracted the interest of big-name medical aid schemes which have partnered with their brand to offer members smart health devices.

They recalled receiving their first order in April 2018, with many ordering processes still being manual at the time.

Ricardo received the call from a hospital group to process their first order while he was on top of a boiler 80 metres high at Tongaat Hulett working for a sub-contractor.

“Once the first order was completed we began to receive recurring monthly requests and the Omninela dream became a reality,” said Ricardo.

The two brothers said moving to Ballito was an eye-opener for them because they had never encountered a community that is always willing to lend a helping hand.
