A father and a child killed in seperate car accidents, three children hospitalised

One incident involved a father who rear-ended a truck while traveling with his two children and their aunt on the N2, near Nyoni this morning.

Two separate accidents on the North Coast have claimed the lives of two people and injured three children.

A father travelling with his children died in a horrific accident near Nyoni this morning.

The man allegedly rear-ended a truck while traveling with his two children and their aunt on the N2.

According to Dylan Meyrick from IPSS Medical Rescue, the impact left the front passenger with serious injuries, and the two children, a boy (12) and a girl (2), moderatedly injured.

“The injured family was transported to hospital for further care. The truck, unaware of the accident, had continued driving but did return to the scene shortly after,” said Meyrick.

In another incident, a 13-year-old boy lost his life when the vehicle he was travelling in rolled multiple times last night at Casurina Circle near Westbrook.

The boy’s 14-year-old cousin suffered minor injuries, and three occupants in the back of the bakkie were ejected during the accident.

According to Riza Sadack, The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)’s public relations officer, there were five occupants in the vehicle, of which three occupants were not injured but had suffered from shock.
