Promoting teamwork in Ballito’s business sector

Expo bridges the gap among local businesses, fostering connections and paving the way for a stronger, united business community.

Building a better business community begins with someone making an effort to provide the links for stakeholders.

That is the belief of CJ Business Events founder, Cindy Joubert, who last week hosted a business expo at Salt Rock Country Club.

The intent was to get likeminded business owners together in one area, to meet each other and hopefully find ways to work together in the future.

“We hear so much negativity about the future of the economy in South Africa, but the only way we will avoid that is by being proactive.

“The business community will be far better equipped to deal with issues should there already be established links, so that the community can respond as one rather than as a series of individuals,” said Joubert.

Last week’s expo was the second this year, after Joubert hosted her first at Umhlali Country Club in February.

And the demand is already clear, she said.

“We had space for 50 businesses today and 46 turned up, willing to meet each other and work together. Even if nobody from the public turned up, it would still have been a success,” she said.

But it proved to be reasonably popular, with residents showing up for the food and drink stalls, as well as presentations from various businesses on the day.

An added impetus for businesses was the ‘Best Business on the Day’ award, which was voted for by attending businesses and the public. It was won by NMR Electrical.
