Bloom Special Needs School Colour Run draws huge support at Sugar Rush Park

The funds raised will play a vital role in sustaining the school's operations.

Sugar Rush Park’s Holla Trails became a vibrant canvas of colours as more than 800 enthusiastic participants, adorned in predominantly white attire, joyously embraced the annual Bloom Special Needs School Colour Run.

The event, now in its seventh year, kicked off on Sunday morning and attracted an impressive turnout.

Organiser Debbie Nicholson expressed her gratitude to the sponsors and emphasised the tremendous support and energetic atmosphere that permeated the event. “This year, we went all out and cannot thank our sponsors enough,” she exclaimed.

While the final tally is still being calculated, Nicholson conveyed her satisfaction with the overwhelming support received throughout the day.

The funds raised from the colour run will play a vital role in sustaining the school’s operations.

“This fundraiser is crucial for us as it ensures the school can continue functioning throughout the year,” she emphasised.

The fundraising event took the form of a colour run, which featured a 5km bicycle ride through the scenic Holla Trails, followed by a 5km run and walk.

Buoyed by the tremendous success of this year’s event, Nicholson expressed her aspirations to build upon this achievement in the future.

Placing first in the riders event was Jonny Stirton, with winners in the over-12 walk run event claimed by Troy Jacobs for the men and Sophie du Plessis for the women.

Winners under the age of 12 included Blake Nicholson and Taylor Hope.

As the Bloom Special Needs School’s fundraising efforts continue, participants can look forward to the upcoming highlight of their calendar, the annual Bloom Golf Day.

Set to take place at the Umhlali Country Club, the event, slated for September 28, promises to be the school’s largest fundraising endeavour yet.

The Bloom Special Needs School extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the supporters, participants and sponsors who contributed to the resounding success of the colour run.
