Artifact hunting with The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund

The event raised R25 000 for the Orphan Fund, which supports 16 child-focused charities in the Courier's distribution area.

Donning their fedoras and ready to solve a host of puzzles, 10 teams faced off in the inaugural North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Indiana Jones Challenge at the weekend.

Hosted by Rain Farm Game Lodge, with activities from Beach and Bush Team Building, the event tested the mental and physical acumen of competitors on Saturday morning.

Aside from teams sponsored by NMR Electrical, Siza Water, Linc Foundation and The North Coast Courier, the day was also an opportunity for 35 Enduduzweni Care Centre children to show off their abilities.

The children joined sponsored teams, while also making up a few teams of their own, ensuring a friendly but undoubtedly competitive spirit throughout.

Whether it was javelin throwing, six-legged races, paintball shooting, dance-offs and much more, all involved had a fantastic morning out.

Each event saw two teams directly compete for an artifact with the Yellow Team finishing top of the pile on seven.

The activities on the day were sandwiched between two meals sponsored by Rain Farm, while Aquelle and Coo-ee provided the drinks.

And to cap it all off, the children from Enduduzweni also took home a mink blanket donated by Ballito 221, Eshowe 24 and Durban 2 Round Tables, members of which were also involved in the day’s challenges.

The Round Tables sponsored 45 blankets overall.

“Thank you to all our sponsors who made it possible, it brightened the whole week for the youngsters. We look forward to hosting you at our next event soon,” said Orphan Fund co-ordinator, Charmaine Premlal.

The event raised R25 000 for the Orphan Fund, which supports 16 child-focused charities in the Courier’s distribution area.
