Solidariteit Helpende Hand reignites its Ballito branch
The organisation launched in Ballito just before the pandemic and is now looking for volunteers to help social workers develop a new strategy for the North Coast.
Solidariteit Helpende Hand relaunched its Ballito branch last week and will be engaging with the community to best serve its needs.
The organisation, well known to the Afrikaans community nationwide, promotes upliftment through hard work and provides the infrastructure for people to help themselves.
Although Solidariteit does provide aid on occasion, as seen during Covid-19 and the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) floods, it seeks first to help in other ways.
“The best helping hand is the one at the end of your own arm. If you have heart and your own hands, then you have enough,” said Solidariteit director, Hannes Noeth.
The organisation launched in Ballito just before the pandemic and is now looking for volunteers to help social workers develop a new strategy for the North Coast.
This will depend on what various role-players in the community identify as issues.
“We are not just asking for money, rather for you to give your strength and skills to help. I don’t know what the problems are here, but that would be the role of local volunteers,” said Solidariteit regional organiser for KZN and Mpumalanga, Annemarie van Heerden.
