Enterprise iLembe brings business boost to youth
The event also provided an opportunity for Enterprise iLembe to distribute business support grants to small, medium and micro enterprises from the iLembe Business Incubator.
Enterprise iLembe recently hosted a successful Let’s Talk Youth Entrepreneurship session at the Ebandla Hotel.
The event aimed to facilitate a constructive dialogue with young entrepreneurs, focusing on entrepreneurship opportunities that can create jobs within and beyond the iLembe District.
The session drew a remarkable turnout of youth from the four local municipalities, KwaDukuza, Maphumulo, Ndwedwe and Mandeni.
Notable attendees included iLembe district mayor, Thobani Shandu, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
Government representatives provided valuable insights into available opportunities and programmes within their departments, highlighting the collaborative efforts between Enterprise iLembe, businesses, communities and the government to drive economic development and ensure inclusive growth in the iLembe district.
A key feature of the session was a panel discussion on “thinking outside the box,” where topics such as the green economy, digital marketing and business innovation took centre stage.
Youth attendees were encouraged to embrace opportunities presented by the fourth industrial revolution, realign their thinking and explore digital transformation, ideation and funding opportunities within the government sectors.
During the event, a graduation ceremony celebrated the completion of the iLembe Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Project, a 12-month training programme.
The programme, led by the Vuthela iLembe LED programme, aimed to create ‘Apptrepreneurs’ within the iLembe district.
The ceremony acknowledged the achievements of 27 youth who successfully completed the programme and demonstrated their newfound ICT skills.
Additionally, the event provided an opportunity for Enterprise iLembe to distribute business support grants to small, medium and micro enterprises from the iLembe Business Incubator.
These grants will offer vital support and resources to empower the growth and success of these local businesses.
