Award opens doors for Ndwedwe songbird Noluthando Ngema
The 27-year-old, whose latest single is doing well, said winning the award means her music is reaching more people.
Things are looking bright for Ndwedwe songbird Noluthando Ngema after she was recently crowned the Nando’s New Emerging Artist of the Year at the Basadi in Music awards.
The win came with a prize of a R100 000 scholarship at the Bridges for Music Academy and mentorship by one of her favourite artists, Msaki, recording time at Nando’s Flames Studio and the Bridges label, gigs across SA and a R20 000 wardrobe makeover by So’fnfree.
“I’m beyond excited. I’m grateful that God saw it fit for my story to unfold this way. I’m ready to embark on my destiny. All this will begin next year, but the mentorship with Msaki has already started,” said Noluthando.
Besides the award, Ngema said since her first single Black Girls Deserve Good Love Too was released last month, reaction has been positive and she had been performing in different places around the country.
Ngema’s journey with music began while she was studying physiotherapy at the University of Cape Town.
Music helped her deal with numerous challenges she faced at that time, including depression.
She found herself sitting in front of a keyboard and pouring out all her concerns through song.
