National Luthuli Museum competition promotes South African history
The competition aims to reflect South Africa's past accurately and within proper context for future generations.
The 18th annual iNkosi Albert Luthuli history competition proved there remains a strong appreciation of history among South Africa’s youth.
The competition included pupils from eight provinces, who delivered written and oral history projects, with poetry and praise singing as added categories.
Founded in 2005, the Luthuli Competition intends to promote the subject of history so that South Africa’s past can be told accurately and with proper context for future generations.

Pupils from Grade 8 to 11 submit projects in their home provinces, after which the best performers are selected to travel to the final in KwaDukuza.
On Friday last week, the last round of the competition was held, which decided the winners who were awarded at Groutville High School on Saturday.
KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education MEC, Mbalenhle Frazer, was in attendance to lay a wreath at the grave of iNkosi Luthuli and his wife on Nokukhanya on Saturday, before presenting the awards.
