Ballito Neighbourhood Watch potjie comp back bigger than ever

The Ballito Neighbourhood Watch (BNW) potjie competition returns for its third edition next weekend and promises to provide potjie perfection.

Held in conjunction with the BNW’s 22nd anniversary, the potjie showdown returns to Townsend Park on November 4 from 11am and acts as a fundraiser for the organisation.

It has grown into a hugely popular event and will boast a host of activities for the whole family, including jumping castles, Zorb balls, a reptile show and a fire truck demonstration.

A number of local companies will also be present and available to answer questions on security, property and the latest car trends.

This aside from some of the North Coast’s greatest potjie chefs bringing their secret blends and recipes for a chance at a year of bragging rights.

Just R50 per person ensures a bowl of tasty goodness from a potjie of your choice, while kids under 12 enter for free. Rice and pap will also be provided.

A series of hot auction items, including a weekend getaway, beautiful paintings, a hunting trip and some tech prizes will be up for grabs after lunch, so make sure you bring your wallet along.

Funds raised from the event go towards monthly licensing fees and data costs for the seven SNIPR cameras which help to protect Ballito and Salt Rock.

New live monitoring cameras backed by artificial intelligence are also in the pipeline.

The BNW is a valuable asset in the North Coast’s crime fighting community and works with police, the municipality and local crime prevention structures.
