Grace Family Church’s light party a shining success
Started by Robyn Smith and Charisa Brauteseth last year, the event has grown to become a highlight on the annual calendar.
Pouring rain could not dampen spirits at the Ballito Light Party on Saturday afternoon.
Armed with glow sticks and enough candy to give an elephant a sugar high, 230 children and their families celebrated the light of the world with old-school carnival games, dancing and entertainment.
Hosted at the Grace Family Church Ballito campus the light party is an inter-church initiative to give families an alternative to trick-or-treating over the Halloween weekend.

“It began as an idea between the two of us and we just wanted to promote Jesus as the real source of light in our lives,” said Smith.
“We were really happy with the turnout in poor weather conditions, because we weren’t able to use the garden for games like we did last year.”
But there was plenty of space for everyone to get moving inside the church’s main hall, where children and adults enjoyed some fun entertainment.
