Big business has put together a plan to teach construction industry newcomers the rules of the game.

A group of emerging construction companies is to embark on a transformative ten-month training programme to enhance their competitiveness in the market.

Spearheaded by the iLembe Chamber of Commerce and supported by key sponsors such as Master Builders Association, this initiative aims to equip the companies with the necessary skills to thrive in the challenging construction industry.

These include implementing health and safety regulations in work areas, adhering to quality principles on construction sites, fundamental business finance skills, managing construction resources, establishing and running a construction business, as well as understanding and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

“If we want to grow our economy we need to develop people who will be able to compete in the free market,” said Oelofse.

He expressed the Chamber’s gratitude to all the sponsors, underscoring the vital role of such initiatives in nurturing a skilled workforce capable of driving economic growth in a free market.

Participants have been nominated by local companies. As part of the programme’s benefits, participating companies will receive one-year membership with the Master Builders.
