Double and Trouble at Flag Animal Farm

As guests arrive, they are greeted by Double and Trouble, two mischievous orphaned goats, along with a sleepy ferret who spends most of his days napping.

The holiday season is in full swing at Flag Animal Farm in Sheffield Beach, where the festive spirit is alive and well.

Genevieve Chisholm, owner of the animal, bird, and reptile rescue sanctuary, gathered the farm’s residents for a heartwarming holiday photo shoot.

As guests arrive, they’re greeted by Double and Trouble, two mischievous orphaned goats, along with a sleepy ferret who spends most of his days napping.

Despite a rainy Thursday morning, the weather added to the charm of the farm, with Chisholm, affectionately known as Gen, reminding visitors that “come rain or shine, the Flag Animal Farm is always open.”

Chisholm is committed to allowing her animals the freedom to roam, believing that “an animal must have a choice because natural behaviour is key to happy animals.”

Goats, sheep, ducks, piglets, rabbits, and peacocks roamed freely, with Scruffy the gosling and Onesie the goat eagerly greeting visitors.

Though Piggy Wiggy Woopie Doo was catching some Zs, a quick photo was too good to pass up.

Many of the animals at the sanctuary, including horses, pigs and sheep, were saved from the slaughterhouse and are now live peacefully at Flag Animal Farm. The new dinosaur park and upcoming insect trail added even more excitement for visitors.

Genevieve and Matilda the tortoise.

Before leaving, we had the chance to meet Matilda the turtle, hold Luno the young rock python, and say goodbye to Double and Trouble, who were still causing their usual mischief.

In addition to their animal rescue efforts, Flag Animal Farm also supports the community by providing jobs and training opportunities.
