Swift action prevents fire from spreading in Ballito estate
The neighbours rallied to assist armed with hosepipes and fire extinguishers before the fire department arrived.
A fire broke out at a private residence in Simbithi Eco-Estate yesterday morning, causing significant damage but fortunately resulting in no injuries.
The homeowners were not at home when the fire started but had discovered the blaze upon arrival.
They expressed gratitude to their neighbours and friends who quickly rallied to assist them as news of the fire spread.
According to estate general manager Marc McClure, the swift response from Simbithi’s security team and the KwaDukuza Fire and Emergency Department prevented the flames from spreading to nearby properties.
“The prompt action of our security team, along with the expertise of the KwaDukuza Fire and Emergency Department, ensured that the situation was brought under control quickly,” said McClure.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.
The homeowners also commended the fire department for their swift response to the call for help.
This is the second house fire within the estate this year.
